Faber lands RM1bil hospital maintenance contract

PETALING JAYA: Faber Medi-Serve Sdn Bhd has been awarded a 27-year contract worth RM1.03bil by Konsortium ProHAWK Sdn Bhd to provide asset management services for the facilities and infrastructure of a women and children’s hospital in Kuala Lumpur.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the wholly-owned subsidiary of integrated facilities management company Faber Group Bhd rationalised the fees as attributable to the value of assets managed under the facility engineering management services and biomedical engineering management services, gross floor area of the hospital, expected volume of linen and healthcare waste and specifications as required by the Government.

Konsortium ProHAWK is a vehicle owned by UEM Group Bhd and Najcom Sdn Bhd to undertake the financing, planning, design, development and commissioning and leasing of the hospital’s facilities and infrastructure. The hospital will be completed in 2016.

“With our existing laundry and incinerator plants in place (collectively worth RM163mil in investment), the group is not required to make substantial investments pursuant to the proposal and we will be able to achieve operational competencies and efficiencies by utilising our current resources,” said Faber Group, which together with its subsidiaries provide integrated facilities management for hospital support services to 81 public hospitals in Malaysia.
